Covering Falmouth, Penryn and Helston.
I’m Chris Johnson and married to Sue. We have 3 happy children. Eldest Chris is a Biomedical Scientist, Hayley a nurse in London and Mark is in his final year at Loughborough Uni. I was born and grew up in Falmouth, but soon after leaving the old Falmouth grammar school left for London. I have always worked in construction and for many years ran the building maintenance department of a multi-franchised London car dealer with a portfolio of letting properties. In my spare time my passion for sport kept me involved in surf life saving GB. Whilst in London I was Superintendent Examiner for the S.L.S.A southern region and helped train rescue boat crews for events in the tidal reaches of the Thames. On our return to Cornwall in the early 90’s I did a spell as Cornwall’s Superintendent Examiner.
I’ve always been very keen on driving having my first licence on 21st March 1968 and passing my test on the 28th- 7 days later. Mind you, the test at Truro was a little different then. In my work and sporting life I have driven many thousands of miles and honed my driving skills by towing rescue boats to many events around the UK.
A career change in 2009 saw me qualify as an approved driving instructor. I am proud to say I achieved a high grade at my last check test. I pride myself by finding the correct balance with my pupils, always moving forward at a comfortable pace for them, and always having achievable targets. My end goal is not only for them to pass the test, but to be competent safe drivers. I’m happy to be working alongside Tony and Mike and maintain the high standards and values of Accord driving school.
My leisure activity is now sea swimming which Sue also enjoys, but I’m now only accompanied when the weather is very very warm.
